Abstract

|
Plasma cholinesterase has been called pseudocholinesterase and is mainly distributed in the serum. Many studies have been done on the rise and fall of pseudocholinesterase levels. conditions showing a decrease are sepsis, severe nutritional deficiency, cancer, liver disease, pregnancy, esp. toxemia, and infants, we studied the pseudocholinesterase levels in 25 normal pregnant women and normal delivery neonates. The following results were obtained.
1) In the pregnant women, the pseudocholinesterase level was 1137.88¡¾199.42 IU / l, lower than the normal adult.
2) In the nonates, the average pseudocholinesterase level was 937.68¡¾193.70 IU/I, and compared to the levels in pregnant women a 82.54¡¾11.46% decrease was seen.
